Pfaffl wines3

Weingut R & A Pfaffl, Niederosterreich, Austria

From a group of 320 villages there are just seventeen which benefit from the top ‘Grand Cru’
appellation; due to the quality of their soil they have been given the highest rating within the region for their vineyards. Verzy is one of these Grand Cru villages, located in the Montagne de Reims area, and it was here that I first visited the Lefevre family in January, and subsequent tastings of their wines have convinced me that we have something rather special to share with you.

In 1985, the Dubourg family bought Château Haut-Pasquet, located on the highest point of Escoussans at an altitude of 100m.
Château Haut-Pasquet is one of the oldest properties in the area and with its 16th century building, Château Haut-Pasquet is an integral part of the region’s exceptional terroirs. The property covers 25 hectares made up of red and white grape varieties characteristic of Bordeaux.

We are proud to support Bruno Andreu wines for several years. The name Bruno Andreu guarantees signature wines that take into account people and their traditions along with a respect for the environment and nature in the cultivation of the vines and terroir. Bruno Andreu develops and creates trendy, ethnic, cosmopolitan wines as well as rare and exceptional wines…a meeting of tradition and modernity.

This exciting winery was founded over thirty years ago by Roman and Adelheid Pfaffl, and to-day their siblings, Roman Josef and Heidi Fischer, are actively involved in the day to day management of the vineyards and winery. With 110 hectares of vineyards this definitely remains a family business, one which proudly received in early 2017 the award for European Winery of the Year from the American magazine, ‘Wine Enthusiast’.
